CCC Women's Basketball Season Preview
The women’s basketball program begins the 2018-2019 season with a new coach,
Donna Dixon. New to the season but not new to the program. Dixon coached the Cougars from 1995-2013 before taking a few years off. The Cougar’s start the season with a small roster but will make up for it with their hard work and determination.
The team is made up of talented student-athletes from our local areas. Cali Moore (Harrisville Central School) and Kim Ratliff (Beekmantown Central School) are the lone returners from last year’s team. Cailene Allen (Seton Catholic Central), Avery Lambert (Northern Adirondack Central), Juliana Gardner (Northern Adirondack Central), Abigail Webb (Peru Central School) and Katelyn Southwick (Northeastern Clinton Central School) make up the rest of the team. The Cougar’s start five local basketball all-stars, Cailene, Avery, Katelyn, Juliana and Abby Webb.
We will be leaning on Cailene and Julianna to provide a good inside presence. Although both players are undersized they are extremely tough and strong around the rim. Katelyn and Avery will share the point guard spot. Both are extremely fast and have the ability to get the rim whenever they want. Abby rounds out the starting five. Abby provides us with a true threat from the outside with a lot of range. Although Cali and Kim don’t start they will give us plenty of minutes.
Coach Dixon stated, “I am very excited to be coaching at CCC again. The players work hard and are good student-athletes. I don’t have any expectations for the season but want to be competitive and improve every day. “
The Cougars are on the road this weekend against Finger Lakes Community College and Corning Community College.
